The first message is usually one line. People open with a site for my yoga studio, or a mobile dog grooming business in Leeds, and the chat works from there. It asks one thing at a time and only for what it cannot work out on its own: what you offer, who you serve, the name, the contact details you want on the site. Most answers are there to tap, and anything you have no answer for can be skipped.
If the business already has a website, its address does the answering instead. If it has only a Google listing, the business name and town are enough to find it.
Then the build runs and you can watch it happen. When it stops, the site is already online. Changing it afterward is a message rather than a file, which is its own page.

- Do I need a developer for any part of this?
- No. The design, the pages, the hosting, the certificate, the form and the page titles are all done during the build. Connecting a domain you already own is the one step that happens at your domain provider, and you are shown the exact records to add.
- What if I do not know what to write?
- One line is enough to open with. A barber shop in Shoreditch is a real first message. The chat asks for the rest one question at a time, most answers are there to tap, and anything you have no answer for can be skipped.
- I already have a website. Do I have to start over?
- No. Give the chat the address of the site you run now and it reads what is there before it asks you anything: what you offer, when you are open, how people reach you. Your logo and your photographs are brought across into the new site.
- Can I do this on a phone?
- Yes. The chat, the preview and every change afterward work on a phone, a tablet or a computer.
- Do I have to buy hosting?
- No. Hosting comes with the site and is never a separate purchase. A domain of your own is optional: the site goes live at a designhouse.site address, and you can connect a domain you have bought on the Pro plan.
- Can I get at the code if I ever want it?
- Sites are built and hosted by Designhouse rather than handed over as a folder of files. On Pro the site answers at a domain you own, and that domain stays yours to point wherever you like.
